Where to Find Live Continuing Education in Washington

Washington LMHCs, LMFTs, LASWs and LICSWs need 32 continuing education hours every two years, including professional law and ethics, professional roles and boundaries, health equity, and suicide assessment hours (WAC 246-809-630). Live CE in Washington is listed in three kinds of places: professional-association calendars, regional workshop calendars, and provider calendars. Here is where to look.

1. The Washington Department of Health profession pages

Start with the official requirements for your credential, including the Department of Health's model list for suicide assessment, treatment, and management training. DOH does not approve individual CE providers; it recognizes categories of approving organizations under WAC 246-809-620.

2. WMHCA's calendar of events

The Washington Mental Health Counselors Association lists its workshops on its Calendar of Events.

3. WAMFT

The Washington Association for Marriage and Family Therapy shares member events and CE updates, including its post on the health equity requirement.

4. The Workshop Calendar

The Workshop Calendar lists mental health workshops across the Pacific Northwest, in person and online.

5. Lovewell Initiatives' training calendar (that's us)

Our training calendar lists every upcoming live Lovewell training, on Zoom and in person in the Seattle–Tacoma area, with CE hours, presenters, learning objectives, and the Washington requirement each one meets. 6. National on-demand providers

Large national vendors are useful for filling general hours at your own pace. Check their Washington hour counts against the current rule, since several still publish the old 36-hour figure.

A quick check before you register

• Does the training name the specific Washington requirement it meets, and the rule behind it?
• Does the provider publish a real approval number, such as an NBCC ACEP number?
• Does the hour count match the time you'll actually spend in instruction?
