Objectives, presenter, CE and pricing

About

A full-day experiential training on using tarot imagery, archetypes, and creative metaphor to deepen therapeutic work around sexuality, intimacy, and relational dynamics. Through a sex-positive and trauma-informed lens, it integrates Jungian concepts of archetype and symbol with contemporary sex therapy and expressive arts practice, with didactic teaching, experiential exercises, and guided art-making.

Learning objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe how symbolic and archetypal imagery (such as tarot) can be used to explore sexuality, intimacy, and relational dynamics in clinical or educational settings.
  2. Identify ethical, cultural, and spiritual considerations in using tarot and other intuitive tools in sexuality-related clinical work with diverse clients and communities, including awareness of personal bias, cultural appropriation, and inclusive practice.
  3. Differentiate between metaphorical, symbolic, and clinical uses of imagery in therapy and education, and assess their appropriateness for supporting sexual and relational growth.
  4. Apply at least two creative or metaphor-based interventions that facilitate exploration of sexual identity, desire, or intimacy concerns using art-making or tarot imagery.
  5. Explain how intuitive reflection and creative art-making can support nervous system regulation, trauma integration, and reconnection to pleasure and embodiment.
  6. Demonstrate self-reflective and relational awareness in integrating creative or intuitive methods into professional sexual health work, consistent with AASECT's ethical principles.

Anti-Racist Therapy 101

Recognizing and Responding to Racial Trauma

Friday, December 11, 2026, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM PacificLive on ZoomPresented by Dr. Shawntres Parks, PhD, LMFT, CST (she/her)$75 early bird through Nov 24 · $90 standard
Objectives, presenter, CE and pricing

About

Racism is not only a social issue outside the therapy room. It shapes how clients experience distress, how symptoms are read and diagnosed, and how therapists show up in the relationship. This three-hour training examines racial trauma through four connected lenses, systemic, somatic, historical and political, and intersectional, drawing on contemporary texts and current research on race-based traumatic stress. It combines didactic content, a brief body-based practice, clinician self-reflection, and a case vignette.

Learning objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe at least three ways systemic racism shows up in psychotherapy, including assessment, diagnosis, and the therapeutic relationship.
  2. Identify common signs of race-based traumatic stress and distinguish them from pathologizing diagnostic interpretations.
  3. Explain how racialized trauma can be held in the body, and demonstrate one brief somatic settling practice appropriate for session use.
  4. Apply an intersectional lens to a case vignette to identify at least two ways overlapping identities shape the presenting concern.
  5. Develop a personal practice plan naming at least two concrete changes to your clinical work.

Presenter

Dr. Shawntres Parks, PhD, LMFT, CST (she/her)

A licensed marriage and family therapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist with more than a decade of clinical experience, whose work centers high-achieving women and couples of the global majority. Dollars & Differentiation

A Developmental Approach to Financial Conflict in Relationship Therapy

Friday, February 26, 2027, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM PacificLive on ZoomPresented by Fiona O'Farrell, PhD, LMFT, CST-S (they/she)$90 early bird through Jan 29 · $120 standard
Objectives, presenter, CE and pricing

About

Money shows up in couples therapy all the time: one partner spends and the other saves, one manages every account and the other barely knows where the money goes. This three-hour training moves past the content of financial conflict to the relational process underneath it, drawing on the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy to examine financial disagreement through the lens of differentiation, family-of-origin messages, gender, labor, power, and sociocultural context. No prior training in the Developmental Model is needed.

Learning objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify at least three ways that differentiation can influence how partners navigate financial anxiety, disagreement, decision-making, and responsibility.
  2. Assess couples' financial conflict from a systemic perspective that accounts for differentiation and is informed by family-of-origin messages, gender, labor distribution, power, and sociocultural context.
  3. Apply developmentally informed clinical interventions and confrontations designed to increase self-definition, accountability, and partners' capacity to navigate financial differences.

Presenter

Fiona O'Farrell, PhD, LMFT, CST-S (they/she)

A systemic therapist, clinical sexologist, supervisor, and educator with more than fifteen years in systemic therapy, sex therapy, and anti-oppressive clinical practice, and former Department Chair of the marriage and family therapy master's program at Pacific Lutheran University. Fiona is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Approved Supervisor, an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, and a Washington State Approved Supervisor, and practices in Seattle.

Disclosure: the presenter and Lovewell's founder are co-editors of a Routledge volume, and the presenter's practice offers clinical trainings. Both are disclosed at the start of the session.

Who it is for

Mental health professionals who work with couples and relationships, including marriage and family therapists, counselors, social workers, psychologists, sex therapists, and graduate-level clinicians. Questions Washington clinicians ask

How many CE hours do Washington therapists need?

Fully licensed Washington mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, advanced social workers and independent clinical social workers need 32 hours of continuing education every two years. The figure dropped from 36 hours effective October 1, 2025 (WAC 246-809-630). Associates need 16 hours every year. The specialty hours for law and ethics, roles and boundaries, health equity and suicide prevention count toward the total. Our Washington CE requirements guide breaks it down, and your own requirements should always be checked with the Department of Health.

Does Washington accept NBCC-approved continuing education?

Yes. WAC 246-809-620 lists the National Board for Certified Counselors among the organizations whose approval makes a continuing education activity acceptable for Washington counselors, marriage and family therapists and social workers. Lovewell Initiatives is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7776. It is each attendee's responsibility to confirm what their own license requires.

Which trainings meet Washington's roles and boundaries or health equity requirement?

Every training that carries a Washington designation is tagged on its listing, for example WA roles & boundaries or WA health equity, and the designation is spelled out under Continuing education when you open the training. Use the Credit type filter above to see only those trainings.

Are Lovewell trainings live, in person, or on demand?

All three. Most live trainings run on Zoom and are open to clinicians anywhere; some are held in person in the Seattle–Tacoma area; and on-demand courses can be taken at your own pace. Each listing shows the format, date and time in Pacific time.

How do I receive my CE certificate?

For live trainings, attend the full session and complete the post-training evaluation; partial credit is not available. For on-demand courses, complete the full course and the required quiz. Full policies, including refunds and grievances, are on our CE Information and Policies page.
